A good minimum is 1 Farrad/1000watts. If your that serious then make sure your running 1/0 gauge wire for positive AND negative all the way back from the battery (and from the alternator to the battery -your factory 10 gauge wire isn't good enough). A cap is not a waste, it CAN (but of course nothing is ALWAYS) save your alternator by providing a buffer between the alternator and the amp. This buffer is important because an amp will suddenly increase demand for power (like when the bass hits) and an alternator can't supply it so you can fry the alternator with constant or regular use of a big system by repeatedly straining the alternator by trying to take more power from it than it can produce. Keep in mind though that a cap doesn't increase the power output of your system, it still all comes only from the alternator.

Sid Meier's Pirates! won't install?

I recently dusted off my copy of Sid Meier's Pirates! (2004 Remake.) I loved playing this game when I was younger and strongly desire to start up again. However, when I try to install it, I get a little window popping up the says "1607: Unable to install InstallShield Scripting Runtime". Sadly this is a completely normal reaction for a good first time mommy. In my opinion fear keeps us on our toes lol My daughter slept better on her tummy too and it scared me so for the first 8 months or so she slept on her tummy onmy chest...this allowed my paranoid butt to sleep and her to sleep the way she wanted. Cribs terrified me for whatever reason and she went straight from sleeping inour bed to sleeping in a toddler bed. 84-85 for short periods of time is okay. However if it's going to be more than a week or two then you should do something about it. A small desk top fan pointed at the tank should work for a small five gallon tank. (I'm having the same issue right now.) Turn off the light, lower the water level an inch or so so that the filter splashes more. Keep your heater turned to 78-80 though to keep the fan from making the tank too cold. Honestly though I don't think it'll be much of an issue. A lot of them come from Thailand and the water temperature there is quite high as well. As long as it's coming down to 78-80 at night I wouldn't worry too much. Keep the light off though. That will help with the heat.

Sounds are more peculiar, I could hear my left foot much louder then my right as a stepped - fact, it's weird that I could even HEAR my feet stepping! I'm hearing things like sprinklers going, that sounds like the grass crunching. It's taking me way to long to recognize the fact that it was a sprinkler and not crunchy grass. I am paranoid about my personal items, checking to make sure my wallet and it's contents are still in my purse every 3 or 4 minutes. I am time paranoid even when I don't need to know the time, and am also checking it every 3 or 4 minutes. After someone says something or I have had a conversation with someone, it feels like it hasn't happened and I need to know whether or not it did happen, which obviously can cause for awkwardness. I am petrified this is the onset of something serious such as schizophrenia. I have had serious self harm issues in the past and am still having issues with hurting myself but not to the extend that I used to. Okay, well this is a really long story. But I'll start off by saying I'm 16 years old, and almost two years ago I met this guy who is 3 years older than me. My sub is getting distorted at high volumes please help?

Hi i have a JL 13w7 powered by a JL 1000/1 amp and a 1 farad rockford fosgate 1 farad cap. My sub works perfectly fine when i have the volume low or medium but when i increase to to a higher level it begins to distort. When i took it to the guys that installed it they told me that the coils are overheating but i feel they just want me to buy a sub from them as they insisted that JL audio suck and that the fosgate t2's they have are better. Also, i have it in a sealed box that's built to spec. I feel that it might just be tuned wrong but at the same time i don't know much about car audio.

Are dual ported boxes worth buying?

the dual port setup will not make any difference IF everything is the effectively the same . The main difference is looks . there are a lot of differences that could change things though. one or the other may react better with the acoustics of your particular vehicle . That said .... almost always performance of one vs. two port boxes will be the same if they are same air volumes and tuning frequency . slot ports do flow air better though.

So,i've been talking to this guy that i've liked off and on since 7th grade, (I'm a freshman.) But we hadn't seen eachother in a few months before last night and when he saw me, he pretty much embraced me into this huge bear hug. So, i get back to my other friends house, and I pretty much felt like i was going to die of embarrasment. I felt like such an idiot. So i'm telling my friends how mortified i am, and he comes back because he had left his stuff. I was sooo embarrased, and thank God my friends told him that I thought it was awkward and that i was terrrible. So he said, "I didn't think so....but if you want to try again? haha" I thought he was kidding. But i felt like i owed him something, so I left with him again and I grabbed his head and kissed him, without any tounge and it wasn't bad, so i said "The second time was much better" and just hugged him. He pulled my head up, kissed me and said "and the third" and kissed me again and said "and the forth..." and he like started to grab my butt,which was a little scary and surprising but i didn't really do anything about it...which i kind of feel like i should have. And he kissed me like 6 times,and he said it each time. haha, i know it was cheesy and sweet but i just feel like i really messed up. He's also waaay more experienced than me..as he's been kissing girls since like 6th grade, and I've only kissed like..2 guys. I'm just worried that he thinks i completely suck and that i'm a prude or something and I need some opinions!

Why does my battery meter still jump with a capacitor?

Can i hook up 2 type r's to one amp?

I currently have one ten inch type r hooked up to my amp, but i want to hook up 2. they are 2 alpine swr 1022 (box is ported). the amp is an alpine mrd m1005. i realize that the peak power doesn't quite match up but the rms power is dead on. i also have a cadence 1 farad capacitor in the system, that shouldn't make a difference though with the wiring.

Okay well, im only 15 days late on my period. I know its early, but i swear about six days ago ive just started to feel like crap. I eat waaay more than i used to, way more hungry. It said it took three minutes but it literally showed up about two seconds after i peed on it. Yes i read it right and everything. It was negative, but why else would i have all of these symptoms? Could it be wrong?

Capacitor or Extra Battery?

I have a 2008 Dodge Charger with two 12" Rockford Fosgate P3's with a 1000w Prime Amp. At night when the bass hits, my head lights and interior lights dim on my car. I would like to stop this so I don't ruin my alternator or the annoying diming lights. People have suggested to get a capacitor but others have suggested getting an extra battery. If I get a capacitor I want to get the Fosgate 10 farad. If I'm to get an extra battery, I don't know where to begin. Which one of these will resolve my problem and why?

I turned 19 on June 16th, I weigh ~100lbs. and am about 5ft. 1in. I know, I'm really small. However, I recently started doing intense workouts. you probably just need to switch out the stock car battery with one that has more cranking amps, i had the same problem with my truck awhile ago. while i would be driving on the road my truck would shut off on me then i would have to shut my system off just so i can start my truck back up, so i just went to autozone and got a battery with 1000 cranking amps so it can support the aditional power that my system has. the battery i got was around 120 bucks which is expensive for a battery but it solved the problem for sure.

Ok. So me and my mum and her friend were watching some T.V. and a dog came walking into our house. It was choking so we went up to it and it turns out his collar was WAAAY TO TIGHT. The person that put it on made an extra hole which was far far down from the other real holes. Once we took it off the dog took a deep breathe and then licked my mums friend. (Who took it off) Now this was yesterday. We tried to make the dog go back outside but it just walked around and circles and wandered out onto the road and sat there. He nearly got hit! He isn't fixed and he doesn't have shiny fur, it looks kinda weird. The dog is a black lab. I would say he is about a year. Last night my mum fed him cassarol. Because we don't have dog food. 4 gauge on 2 amps and a cap?

use O awg wire from the battery to the cap first all that, than use the 4 awg wire from the cap to the amps, what I would do, I used to have 2 amplifier on 4 awg wire, it doesn't work very good, I have sold my 4 awg wire all that, but my friend told me that I need 0 awg wire from the bat to the cap, and than use the 4 awg wire from the cap to the amps. Also, for what you use the cap is kind useless to the power output, I would get a D-block use 2 awg wire from the battery to the D-block than use the 8 awg wire from the D-block to the amps. Should be working out good, the reason my friend suggest me use the 0 awg wire is because I am but out 2 1000 watts RMS power from my amplifiers, which I am out put around 2000 watts RMS, I used a 2 farad cap. 1 farad per 1000 watts of power, cap just like a battery storage the energy, do to your amplifier outputs one is 300 rms another one is 200 rms your not going to get any where near 800 to 1000 watts of power, if you want that amount of power I would suggest you get a batter amplifier, such as kicker ZX750.1 amplifier or the Alpine M1000. good luck.

The answer posted by alex is completely correct. No matter how many batteries you add to a system and no matter how big of a capacitor you get it is impossible to get more power out of your alternator than it puts out. To be honest you can pick up a decent high output alternator for 240 bucks from power bastards and thats a whole lot less than any CEA compliant 1800 watt amplifier or even the subwoofers your running. All a bunch of batteries will do is allow your system to have more storage space for that power, but once the stored power gets used up by the amp your back to the same issues you had before. The best way to run a big system is a high powered alternator and an AGM battery. Theres a reason you won't see people running caps on the bigger builds and its because capacitors are designed to help stiffen the charging system and are used when you are going just beyond what your alternator can handle so your battery has more time to charge between bass hits due to the super fast charging and discharging of the cap. It does not matter if your current alternator is good or not, it simply doesn't have the power to keep up with the amp.

I have a base model 1996 Chevy Camaro. I have 2 KFC-W3012 Kenwood Subwoofers in a Dual sealed enclosure. I have all Kenwood KFC-1693PS Speakers all around. I have a 800 watt Kenwood KAC-8403 Four channel amp for my interior speakers. I have a 1800 watt KAC-9103D for my Subs. I will be hooking both of these up. I also have to sony xplod tweeters I installed in the rear running off my Jensen linear phase UV9 headunit. My amps are a total of 2600 watts. I haven't hooked it all up yet but I'm for sure my lights will be dimming and it will not be good. Could I just use a capacitor? If so how many farads. And what's a good brand? I realize upgrading my alternator would be a good choice but if I don't need to put out all the cash for it and then doing the "big 3 upgrade" I would prefer not to. Any ideas? What could I do? My Ipod is way too quiet in my car?

I bought a 160gb ipod classic. Took me forever to put all my music on there. I saved it with the volume limit on itunes all the way up. Ive adjusted everything i can find on the Ipod itself to increase the volume. I use a AUX connection which goes straight to the stereo. Still with the volume on the ipod at the max and the volume on the stereo on max its waaay too quiet. If im listening to the stereo or a cd i only have to turn the volume half way up to get the volume im looking for. What can I do??? I made a capacitor, but it stops working every few minutes?

I made a high voltage capacitor out of aluminum foil and trash bags. I wanted to go all out so I cut the bags on the sides to open them up height wise, so they're twice as long. I unrolled two rows of aluminum foil slightly overlapping, put on another bag, and another layer of foil. I left about 1.5 inches of bag overlapping the foil, so they definitely don't touch. I put leads on each plate. Then I folded it up several times and compressed it to give it higher capacitance. The first time I tested it, it measured 4μF.. yes, micro farads. I charged it up with a high voltage supply and it worked great. Sometimes it gives a pop when it gets so charged that it arcs through the plastic. I'm wondering if that's bad, because after messing around with it for a minute or so it stops working. I measure it, and it has no capacitance. Then I unfold it a bit, re fold it, and it's back to normal, until I use it for a while again, and it stops working again, etc I know it's not because the plates are touching, like I said, I made sure it has a good overlap.

absolutely. i actually have a set up similar to that in my room. but you need to put something down under the battery if its in the truck, to catch the battery acid. just hook the power cable up to the positive and the ground wire to the negative and a really long wire from the remote slot to the head unit. the other problem is the power it will take to push it. the speakers will probably start cutting out on hard hits, because that would be running the battery off of the CCA (Cold Cranking Amps). the alternator is what would actually be powering the subs most of the time. it would be best to just wire it directly to the battery already in the car.

Help playing torrented mdf/s games?

So I have a windows 7 and im trying to play games that are mdf and mds files. I got these games torrented off of the pirate bay or whatever. I download the whole thing on utorrent then try to play the files and it says it cant play mds df files. So i go online and get daemon tools lite to play them on. it props up the opening menu thing, asks if i wanna install and I click yes. It gets about 2/3 of the way through and says i need to put in the disk to continue installing but i obviously dont have the disk cause i torrented it. I have no idea whats wrong if someone who knows more about this could help that would be great. It worked when i played the clannad game but after that it didnt -__- I put my free time in your hands internet. (FYI the games I tried to play were "the sagara family" and "lets meow meow" if that makes a difference)

Sub Or Amp Drawing On Battery Amp Light Is off when cars off?

I have 2 Rockford Fosgate P3's And a Rockford Fosgate P1000 amp and a boss 2 farad capacitor I have a drain on the battery a bad one like if i dont start my car within 18 hours its dead I just got a python 991 alarm and remote start but we ruled that out of the picture When i took the fuse out of the 4 gauge wire going to the battery my car seems to start a lot better and the remote start will actually work on the first try.... i had my starter altenator and battery all checked by advanced auto atuozone orielys and another advanced and a local sub shop guy and it all checked out fine so im wondering how do I fix this problem a bigger battery will do nothing about the drain its still gonna drain and so wouldnt getting a second batttery it would just put more strain on the altenator which was replaced in 09 by the way so thats out of the picture give me any other ideas you have thanks

Will this 2 farad Capacitor have to much effect on my car?

ok so i have 4 12inch subs, 1200peak power and 350rms each. i have a 2 farad capacitor but im debating what will happen when i wire it in. before my friend had 2 subs at around 500rms in all and put a 1 farad capacitor in and it just kept blowing the fuse to the subs, now people keep saying for every 500watts is 1 farad and others are saying for every 1000watts is a farad. i have 4800watts peak power and 1400rms, will the 2 farad capacitor make my fuse just keep popping? if i upgrade my battery would that solve the issue? someone please tell me if the capacitor is to big or solutions around it so i can keep the capacitor!

You've answered your own question. You get addicted to these things because you have an emptiness you need fill. I'm like that too but I have problems with compulsive spending, alcohol and marijuana. At least you're not there yet. If you're anything like me you have problems with low self esteem and maybe depression the addictions are just a side effect. If you work on the emotional issues you're having then you'll have less of a hole to fill. You should look into getting some counselling.

go to your local parts store and have it checked. it could be either. if battery replace it. if not u may have to install a second battery to keep up with your system. stock batterys and alternators arent designed to keep up with a system.

FYE Music/Video Store Sold Me Pirated DVD?

I bought Fight Club from their store and when I got him I noticed that the artwork is on printer paper and that the discs bottoms are blue and say "DVD-R" on the back side. Yes, put the positives together coming from the front battery or the alternator hot (which ever way you do it). Put the grounds together and you can ground it to the chassis, but make sure it's free of paint and just BARE metal. You WILL need a bigger alternator b/c with that one you'll only be getting you about 1,160w of power. Just search for high output alternators and you should find a few sites that will have/make them for you. Good luck!

How can I lock my door?

I just moved into my new house (college student) and I have a problem with my bedroom door. Apparently there's no holes drilled for modern day doorknobs. The house was built in the 1890's and lock/doorknob look like it. The key hole for the seized up lock looks like a "pirate key." I have a chain lock from the inside of my room to lock the door but when I leave my room, I want a way to lock it from the outside. For example when we throw a party, I don't want people in my room. Even at 14 volts, the maximum power you get from your 12 volt battery and alternator, you need another 114 ampers, but continuously pulling 14 volts might cost you a burned out alternator- at least a weak battery. The capacitor generates ZERO volts- it is a power filter. It can collect and dump power from the existing power supply, but it cannot make more power than you have.

Would this amp and cap be good or bad for these subs? as far as having the right amount of power to the subs?

I would need to know the model of the subwoofer to know if the rms ratings are bloated or not, but regardless I would not recommend the volfenhag amplifier, not only because of the brand itself but also because of the power. Your subs have single 4 ohm voice coils, that means they can be wired either to two 4 ohm loads on a 2 channel amp, or a single 2 ohm load on a mono amp. Your best bet would be a nice mono amp that produces about 800 watts at a 2 ohm load, that is if your subs have a true 400 watt rms rating. As for a capacitor I would say it is not necessary, but if you really want one you would only need one farad for the current draw of the amp you need.
