Need some professional audio help?

I have a 12" Mtx sub pushing 1200 Watts rms 2000 Peak and 4 guage wire with a amp pushing 1000 Watts rms and 2000 Peak as well and a 7 farad capacitor. When I started up my car I played some heavy bass and after about 3 minutes the capacitor shut off and the sub did too since they are hooked together. This has happened before in the past a couple of weeks ago and after about 5 minutes of driving everything kicked back on. Is the capacitor going bad or could it be something else? Serious answers only please and no spam saying get rid of it cause it cured my dim lights effect.
